We are Peter Brock and Yvonne Schick. We were brought together in 2018 by our shared love of boating and a romance began.
Peter was born in England with its rich history on the seas in his blood and soul. Following high school he served an engineering apprenticeship during which he spent time at college studying Marine Engineering interspersed with time at sea and work study in a Scottish shipyard. This led to 11 years at sea and attaining the rank of Chief Engineer (with four gold stripes on the sleeve of his uniform). After that time at sea, he joined Lloyd’s Register of Shipping in London as a surveyor. Lloyd’s transferred him to the USA where he rose to the position of President of their operations in North America, Central America and the Caribbean. Even after retirement from Lloyd’s, he could not be kept away from the maritime life so he formed his own company and began consulting, primarily with International Registries (the Marshall Islands flag), became a Vice-President and helped write their regulations for yachts before a final retirement. Peter maintains a home in Katy, TX, (a Houston suburb) and has two married daughters and a granddaughter all living in the Austin area.
Yvonne is a Texas girl whose boating experience has been limited to lakes, the Gulf Coast and commercial cruises. Growing up, family vacations always meant time on the water. In the 70’s and 80’s, she and her then-husband owned a sailboat on Galveston Bay. From that experience she fell in love with recreational boating. Finding Peter with a shared passion for boating brought her full circle to an opportunity to indulge her quest for something more than a “routine” life of retirement. Yvonne has a home in Dripping Springs, TX, near Austin, no children but a big family of siblings, nieces and nephews who cannot wait to share a piece of her adventure.
